GlucoScan was founded by Samy Rahmani — whose father was diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes.
Watching his father struggle to keep track of readings, log meals, and make sense of the numbers, Samy was surprised that no app made the process simple, beautiful, or genuinely helpful. Most tools felt clinical and cold — designed by people who had never sat across the dinner table from someone managing their blood sugar every single day.
So Samy built GlucoScan for his dad. He wanted something his father would actually enjoy using — something that removed friction instead of adding it. An app that felt human.
The AI meal scanner came first, because counting carbs from photos was the thing his father hated most. The bolus calculator followed. Then the trends, the PDF reports for the endocrinologist, and finally the reminders that gently nudged him to check his glucose without feeling like an alarm going off.
Now GlucoScan opens to a small founding group — the first to try the app alongside the family it was built for. The mission hasn't changed: make managing diabetes simpler, clearer, and less stressful for every single person who uses it.
And the essentials will always be free — because that's what Samy's father deserves, and so do you.
"I built this app because I watched my father fight something he couldn't see coming — and I wanted to give him something that made the fight a little bit easier. That's still why we do this."
Whether you have Type 1, Type 2, or are managing diabetes for someone you love — GlucoScan is here for you.
